Artisans and rural tourism (Spain)

Rural tourism is an opportunity to catalyse local economies and guarantee the future of rural populations because women and young people will stay, as it offers new opportunities to work in keeping with their expectations for the 21st

There are many aspects, like hostelry, crafts and the elaboration of traditional food. Its promotion and development also help to understand and preserve the rural world and its culture.

Val de San Lorenzo is a village with a long textile tradition, both with hand looms and mechanical ones. Younger generations have not opted for the family textile businesses, and at the moment only two people (an aged mother and daughter) still weave by hand, and four or five couples of middle age continue with mechanical looms. The textile Museum, which has a fulling facility, keeps alive the memory of the valuros (locals) and is worth a visit.
