Women and agricultural extension (Morocco)

In Morocco, local organisations of farmers are essential for agricultural extension, especially among low income producers and women farmers. Incorporating women into these programmes is still a major challenge.

At the start of the 21st century, 81.4% of rural women workers are still registering in official censuses as family carers, and less than 10% of women are included in agricultural extension programmes, although they do 50% of farm work (FAO, 2000).
