Main nutritional resources: Yuca or Cassava
Cassava is the basic diet of indigenous populations of Ecuadorian Amazonia. It is an important nutritional source for its rich energy and protein content, suitable for all ages and highly recommended for situations of intense physical activity that require a high energy expenditure, as has been the norm for collecting and agricultural non-mechanized populations.
It is planted by cutting pieces of the stem, which are introduced horizontally into the ground at any time of the year.
