Main nutritional resources: yucca
Yucca was soon domesticated in South America (Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay), and is now grown all over the tropics. It is the fourth most eaten food in Africa, Asia and America. Its cultivation has many advantages as it easily adapts to poor soil and marginal land that are not viable for other crops, needs little water, doesn’t need fertilisers and pesticides, and is always there in times of food shortage.
In addition, once planted, it stays in the ground unspoilt for almost two years. It is resistant even in time of food shortage.
