Koh Tonsay
Using a local and traditional technique, a man climbs a palm tree to fetch coconuts sold for tourists at the few restaurants on Koh Tonsay Island, Cambodia. Measuring just two square kilometers, without any roads and with electricity for only 2-3 hours in the evening, the island, whose name means “rabbit” (locals say the shape of the island, if seen from above, resembles one), is known for being the best getaway for those looking for tranquility and simplicity. Recent developments as a result of foreign investments, however, are posing a threat to the local lifestyle.
