One of the most ethnically and culturally diverse cities in the United States, San Diego has a population of about 1,5 million people – 40,8% of which speaks a language other than English at home. Racial tensions in the country have dramatically increased with Donald Trump, who builds the political narrative for his presidency on racist, xenophobic and islamophobic ideas that are promoting a sense of white supremacy amongst his electoral base, and often the use of violence against minorities.
