FAO support for fisherwomen and fishermen (Mozambique)

Since 2008 FAO has contributed to training in fishing and conservation techniques and access to credit for the fishing communities of Mozambique, whose diet is rich in seafood.

Women have taken part in the training processes designed to complement traditional methods of processing and conserving fish (salting and drying) with the use of ice and cold storage. Access to small credits has helped to improve fishing equipment and get ice, thus keeping the fish fresh and in good hygienic conditions.
