Helping to reconcile
In the poorer African countries, development programmes linked to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Objective (SDO) 2015-20 (and first those established for meeting The Millennial Development Objectives), are frequently run by lay and religious (of different confessions) NGOs rather than by governments themselves; in particular, those to do with health, gender and poverty. Cooperation between the Alaine Foundation and The Woman’s Training Centre, run by the Oblate Sisters, is a good example.
In the picture, a grandfather from the town of Lgbomakro in Benin, takes charge of his grandson while the child’s mother attends the opening of a funded Maternity Centre.
