Domestic hygiene, family celebrations (Spain)

The lambs fleece was an important symbol in rural weddings in León, and the newly-weds sat beneath it surrounded by their families. The women washed and prepared the wool and also made the fleece.

Some young women from León, now city-dwellers, still get married in villages in the traditional way with the fleece, although the decoration is now more sophisticated and uses a lot of plastic.
