Chugchilán

Under the façade of a public school, a group of women tries to hide from the midday Sun during a cultural street performance by a group of local artists. Located along the internationally famous Quilotoa Loop hiking trail, Chugchilán is a small Andean village located in the county of Sigchos, in the Cotopaxi province. With elevations ranging from 2,600 to 3,800 meters, it offers innumerous hiking experiences, and it is home to a population of about 6,000 people. Andean tradition thrives in this area and its many local markets offer us the chance to observe their culture and way of living.
