Huaraz

Holding her baby, a mother sells fruits at a street market in Huaraz, northern Peru. Founded as San Sebastian de Huaraz and located at about 420 km north of Lima, Huaraz is an internationally famous trekking hub that attracts tourists and adventures that come from all over the world to explore the Cordillera Negra, with no permanent snowcapped peaks or glaciers, hence black, and the Cordillera Blanca, with white permanent snowcaps and glaciers – which are all shrinking at an alarming rate due to climate change.
