Maya adults in Mexico are burdened with overweight, obesity, and other diet-related noncommunicable diseases. These are mainly due to nutrition intakes that are very high in calories, but usually not associated with sedentary behaviours. The limited available research has shown that the Maya lead quite active lifestyles. These, nonetheless, are not enough to curb the excessive daily caloric intake. [Inês Varela-Silva]
