The morena or quiñón (firewood), ready for the winter (Spain)
Every year there is a draw to allot areas of the local forest to the local inhabitants who have requested firewood. Once assigned, they must chop and take away the wood within a certain period of time, otherwise they lose their right to it.
The rules about managing communal forests are found in the old council regulations of each village. The picture corresponds to Fabero, a mining town in el Bierzo.
