The lake and Druzhba
This is the lake in Druzhba, a peripheral neighborhood of Sofia. The view is beautiful and fills the souls of the people of Kukuryak with warmth; it seems as if it is not even in Bulgaria. But what does water mean to us as a group?
Over the years in Kukuryak, we have fought for access to water—everyone needs it, but not everyone has access to it. There used to be a large central mineral bath in Sofia, which was inexpensive. Today, many people in need have nowhere to bathe, so the group protests together in front of the former bath, which now stands as a museum. Our group has high hopes. Perhaps one day there could be free showers in accessible locations in the city. Such an initiative would help many of our acquaintances.
Although water is very important to everyone, water supply and sewerage operators have many leaks, where a large part of our water resources are lost due to old pipes. This worries people.
The water in this lake is not only beautiful, but also a home. It is home to various species of fish, says Galya. Nature is also important to us. Nasko complains that it is really being destroyed. He participates in many initiatives related to the protection of Bulgarian nature.
