Picnic

The Kukuryak collective has a long tradition of meeting for a picnic at least once or twice a year. In 2025, we had our picnic in the Druzhba neighborhood, where many members saw Druzhba Lake for the first time. At such a picnic, we have the opportunity to relax, share good food, and talk in a more informal setting. For M., these are some of her favorite gatherings. In fact, we met her for the first time at last year’s picnic.

The photo is full of positive emotions, a homely and cozy atmosphere—a sense of tranquility surrounded by nature and clean air. Sofia has many well-preserved parks and natural areas. But for Galya, this photo also reminds her of sadness. For her, the act of sitting on the ground does not bring back good memories—it reminds her of the poverty in which many people live.
