Reconciliation and old age in rural Spain

Family care, apart from nutritional, hygiene, health and wellbeing aspects, covers the emotional needs of children and the elderly, the sick and the disabled.

Family care represents an essential pack of services which until relatively recently were not assumed, to some extent, by companies and institutions. In Spain, in 2014 women were still the main carers for dependent elders and women most frequently reduced their working day for this purpose, 20% as compared with 3% of men.
