Plants for sanitation (Ecuador)

The Putaspanga plant’s leaves were the “toilet paper” traditionally used by the Napo Kichwas indigenous communities in Ecuadorian Amazonia. It is still grown in some herb gardens such as that of the Kichwas midwives in AMUPAKIN, to illustrate all aspects of their traditional way of life.
