Marrakech
A man rides his motorbike through the lively streets of Marrakech, the fourth largest city in Morocco. Officially founded in 1062 but inhabited since Neolithic times, Marrakech, like many Moroccan cities, comprises an old, fortified city packed with vendors and their stalls in a labyrinthine, medieval-era plan (the medina) that has its center on the iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Declared an UNESCO Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the square is known for its active concentration of storytellers, musicians, snake enchanters and all sorts of performers.
