Community in action: School gardens and health

Parents of Maya children attending Escuela Primaria Ignacio Allende, in Dzitnup, join efforts to transform the outdoor school surroundings into a garden. Gardens have many health benefits. When parents are given opportunities to help improve the surroundings of their children’s learning environments, the community gets reinforced, the relationship between school and families improves, and everyone benefits.
