‘Tomatotalent’ and our 100th night

In all the editions, we celebrated Tomatotalent on the last night, our own talent contest. Based on television shows, but allotment style. In other words, with a lot of humour. And we have it all: a cool presenter, and generous juries, who could be the grandparents of the contestants given the compliments they pay them.

Anyone who wants to take part and show their talent in public has 8 minutes to do so. We have had children dancing a choreography thought up by themselves, stand-up comics, rappers of all ages, all kinds of bands and even a not-so-young lady daring to sing. A trampoline to fame, at least in the neighbourhood.

This format is very popular, even outside our area, and other allotments in Madrid have started doing the same.

But if Tomatotalent is a special night in each edition, in 2024 we had another one, just as special: the Friday when we celebrated our 100^th night. It was on Friday 21^st June. We prepared many things with our signature on them (lots of love and enthusiasm): videos, photos, a photo call, and games. And as a grand finale, we repeated the first ever performance, that of 20^th May 2016 with our local resident, singer-songwriter Rafa Sanchez. It was all very moving.

A hundred summer nights´ dream. The dream that culture can transform the lives of people and of places, that it can and should be accessible to everyone.
