Forest resources. Where is the firewood?
In Mongolia, women from nomadic families have problems finding enough firewood to light the chubesquis they use for cooking. They also use yak and other mammal dung as fuel, and sometimes coal. The smoke from the chubesqui goes straight up the long chimney which helps to prevent the build-up of soot particles which damage the lungs, although these do affect women who cook on the ground with no smoke extraction. The proportion of mongolian population relaying on clean fuels is 32%, and the annual mean concetrations of fine particulate mater (PM2,5) in urban areas is 33,5 µg m3
