Camaraderie
This is a photo of a volunteer from the group, Vanessa. Svetla remembers that, while she was taking the photo, Vanessa turned and smiled at her. It is important for Svetla to show the volunteers as well, because they are also participating and no one is always the photographer or the subject, no one is the only one behind the camera. This dynamic is similar to the way Kukuryak meetings are conducted in general. Decisions are made collectively, based on a balance between what everyone wants to do and the capabilities of all participants.
In the background, you can see two tall buildings built during the socialist era, one symbolizing Bulgaria and the other Russia. The corridor connecting them is a symbol of friendship and gives the neighborhood its name, Druzhba («Camaraderie»). The volunteers and the Kukuryak collective are also connected by friendship, as can be seen in this photo.
