Reinventing «Nights at the allotment»
In times of turmoil, as in daily life, success lies in how you get involved with and trust in the group. COVID broke out in our lives transversally. It affected everything, but art found an outlet on social media and through the window.
«Nights at the allotment», not immune to the epidemic, reorganised so that we could continue offering our outdoor art, following the health protocol.
We donned our compulsory protective clothing: the facemask of affection, gloves on the hands that support you, the apron for hugs and the goggles of love.
Friday 10th July 2020, six o´clock in the evening, 40º C. A lot of sweat and knowing glances. Different people (aged between 20 and 80 years old) with a strong commitment. Wrapped in the T-shirt designed by generosity.
100 chairs set out 1.5 metres apart in a cordoned off area.
Hand sanitizer gel for anyone who needed it.
The stage where the magic happens is full of cables, speakers, a violin, a Celtic harp, and loads of talent, frenzy and musical notes.
8 Fridays were given over to sharing art, effort, commitment and a lot of respect for the virus.
We did something incredible, with our will to fight for a different way of doing things, creativity and a lot of love for an idea which is ever more exciting.
Keeping our project going, fulfils us, confronts us with our own selves and puts us shoulder to shoulder with the people necessary and able to make it possible, but, above all, makes us better people as individuals and as a collective.
Probably, had we not done so, «Nights at the allotment» would have had no future.
