«One with ‘chorizo’!»

Maybe one of the reasons for the growth of «Nights at the allotment», apart from our varied cultural programme, has been the rise of our multiple gastronomic offer and the cool drinks we serve.

We began in partnership with the bar of the local football club, we sold drinks and they sold sandwiches, and so we made the neighbourhood together. Later, they told us they could no longer carry on, so we decided that the allotment would take charge of everything.

We would buy from the local shops, to support them, and we would share the other tasks so that we could continue offering hot sandwiches.  The hardest job would be seeing to the grill but, as usual, there were good grill masters among our gardeners.

We set to work, and such was our success that we soon had to increase the group attending the grill, charge the customers, prepare, serve, etc…, and we created a cooking team which was almost professional, with our hats, aprons and even our own order forms so we were more efficient. And, of course, all done altruistically, like the rest of the team at «Nights at the allotment».

We can now offer, in addition to our famous pork slices, grilled pork loin sandwiches and chorizo, and, for the less carnivorous, Spanish omelette sandwiches. On some occasions, we even dared our hand with vegan food.

We have managed to bring live shows to the neighbourhood, and people can enjoy a hot sandwich and a couple of drinks all for just five Euros, which means that Fridays at «Nights at the allotment» has become a social event.
