Playing at reconciliation

The baby was placed inside the rigid baby carrier, wrapped in rabbit or deer skins and with moos used as a nappy to absorb moisture. The use of moss as a nappy was widespread in very different cultures, from indigenous Siberian tribes to South American indigenous people.

There are toys for learning about maternal responsibility which exactly reproduce the real thing and, like the latter, are highly decorated to express the importance of the birth of a new life.
