 Main nutritional resources: wheat

Wheat was domesticated in the near East by people settled between the Euphrates, the Tigris and the Zagros Mountains, who soon spread it across Eurasia and the North of Africa. For over 8,000 years it was the basic food of the main civilisations in these regions.

In the 21st century the main wheat producers are headed by China, India, Russia, Canada and the USA, none of them in the area where it was domesticated.
