Air

They are volatile. Like drops, they fall with their yurts and their goats and then disappear with the first ray of sun. But transhumant populations do exist, and they are repositories of a deep-rooted tradition and knowledge that is not limited to a single location. They can’t simply disappear, nor can they simply stop and settle. It is already hard for them to find their place in winters, often having no official residency permits, and being at the mercy of landowners who increasingly ask for large sums of money, in return for hosting mobile pastoralist flocks.

But when they are by themselves, they remain as always, free as air!
