Contemporary delivery chair (Ecuador)
The association of Quichua midwives of the Alto Napo (AMUPAKIN), have a delivery chair in their maternity room, together with some baby scales and a mattress with a handle for kneeling deliveries, but its use is now limited.
In other indigenous communities, both in Ecuador as in other central and southern American countries, it is more commonly used: women sit before a hanging piece of string which they grasp while pushing.
